Q This discussion is concerned with analyzing a firm's VRIN resource or resource bundle. First, pick your favorite company (it may be the company you work for, a company whose products you like, a company you admire etc). Question: Does your favorite company have a single VRIN resource, or a VRIN bundle of resources on which it relies to achieve sustainable competitive advantage? Describe the identified VRIN resource(s) for your company on the following aspects: V: Is the resource (or capability) competitively valuable? R: Is the resource rare—is it something rivals lack? I: Is the resource hard to copy (inimitable)? N: Is the resource invulnerable to the threat of substitution of different types of resources and capabilities (non-substitutable)? To get the maximum points for this discussion, you must make (A) make an initial post to answer the question above and (B) reply to at least one other post. Walmart Inc. is my favorite company and has a VRIN bundle of resources on which it relies to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. The strong organizational culture to possess a service-minded mentality is valuable, rare, inimitable as well as non-sustainable. The same can be said for the practices of the members of the management of Walmart Inc. In case of human resource management, all the elements are similar to organizational culture except for being sustainable.
